As an artist I consider myself a landscape painter...

I spent 40 years working and painting, in the watercolor media,

out of my studio in Kansas City, Missouri.

Bonnie, my wife, also an artist, and I now spend winters in Mesa, Arizona.

   We spend every summer traveling,

painting, visiting galleries, and writing  our families histories.

The above paintings, for the most part,

are Watercolors painted while living

in Kansas City

As we travel the U.S. from San Diego to Rockland, Maine,

from Key West to Seattle, I'm always looking for the next painting

When we left Kansas City, unable to paint large watercolors, I started

painting small Plein Aire oils and acrylics...

Below look at some of the 8x10 oils...

"I hope the viewer will discover within my paintings something of his inner self.   I hope he sees an old friend, or says to himself,

yes I've been here before."

I have always felt that my paintings are for just one person at a time They’re from me to you.   My intentions is to translate a thought, the title, into a coherent physical object, the painting is transformed into an original feeling.   A realistic image receives design changes revisions, envisions and through a slow transformation becomes its own entity.   Sometimes these paintings sat for years and then with a single mark it is born.

The painting then is finished

when the subject comes back with emotion,

strength and spontaneity.
